This is done to ensure that the soil has no air pocket. If the soil is not compacted, the air pockets will compromise the integrity of the wall.

After that, the contractor will lay the first layer of the rocks. The biggest rocks typically come first, and they are placed in specific positions, making sure that the layer is as flat as possible. Depending on the build, we will either use cement or plaster or mortar before we put the second layer.

After we have piled the rocks, the last step is to backfill the soil. After backfilling, we still have to compact the soil again, as this makes the soil sturdier.
